Bangkok has the world's longest place name:
The name is actually a combination of Pali and Sanskrit, and it translates to "The city of angels, the great city, the eternal jewel city, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukam" ...or just Krung Thep for short.
Bangkok also has the world's largest market (of any kind). Jatujak is made up of over 15,000 stalls covering 35 acres with between 200,000 and 300,000 visitors per day. It is a truly amazing place. Check out their website: http://www.jatujakguide.com/main/index_eng.php
