i had some very interesting pad thai yesterday for lunch....
when i was in chiang mai last year i often went to the main market after school to get lunch. its where all the local people go to get their produce and whatnot. in the back of the building there is sort of a food court area with about 15 different street food vendors. i used to think that one of them made the best pad thai in the universe. it only costs 25 Baht, which is $0.73.
anyway, i went there yesterday for the first time since i've been back and bought some. either they changed the recipe, or i used to really enjoy food that made you furrow your eyebrows and say to yourself "what the..." with every other bite....i dont know, but it was pretty scary. i ate most of it and i feel fine this morning, but i dont think that i will go back. id much rather pay an extra 30 cents and go to the corner cafe where they have my new favorite pad thai...

I took a weekend Thai food cooking class once and made pad thai. Our group decided that it wasn't very good until we put the 'barbeque' sauce on it that was actually part of a chicken dish...how are your classes going? xo
